About the Show:

A small-cast undersea adventure.

Script, music, and lyrics by Austin Zumbro

Adapted from the book written and illustrated by Marcus Pfister

With shiny, multi-colored scales, Rainbow Fish is the most beautiful fish in all the ocean, and the only one of his (or her!) kind. When Rainbow Fish refuses to share their vibrant, shimmering scales, the whole ocean seems to turn against the vain creature. Unhappy that no one adores them anymore, the Rainbow Fish seeks out the wise Octopus, who helps them learn that it’s far better to be admired for being kind than for being beautiful.

With a bubbly, energetic score and a script that invites wonderful creativity and flexibility, the universal message at the heart of this delightful musical becomes much more than just a simple children’s story.

Feel free to peruse the script here.

AUDITION MATERIALS:

Please prepare a TYA Appropriate Monologue that showcases your ability to develop a strong, fun, and animated character from a child-centric perspective. Think of a fun adjective that could go hand in hand with your character choice. Also prepare a Musical Theatre song of your choosing (16 bars). Our Music Director may not be available to accompany all of the auditions, so if you have the option of a track, please feel free to bring it.
