Intermediate Musical Theatre Camp

Service Description

Monday August 17th to Friday August 21st 9:00am - 4:00pm Every Day “Camp Broadway” – Musical Theatre Fans! Students spend the week devising their own twenty-minute performance, incorporating scene work and choreography with existing musical theatre repertoire, culminating in a Friday afternoon performance. Students will gain an understanding of the core and basic concepts of script-writing and devising theatre, whilst simultaneously honing their acting, singing and dancing abilities. Goal: Demonstrate an understanding of the core and basic concepts of Musical Theatre, whilst simultaneously working on improving the quality and performance thereof. Actively showing improvement in theatre technique, musical knowledge and movement & dance throughout the term and in final performances. Here's a basic breakdown of what our week looks like! Monday (Introductions) - Intro/Safety/Name Game - Story Structure - Drama Games - Plot Show - Decide Characters Tuesday (We write) - Scriptwriting - Complete Props & Costume List - Finalize Song Choices (Broadway) - Finalize Script Wednesday (We rehearse) - Full Script Readthrough - Music Rehearsal (Broadway) / Skill Specialty Workshop (Theatre) - Showcase Costumes & Props - Assemble Remaining Items List - Begin Blocking (If Possible) Thursday (Crunch time!) - Blocking - Choreography  - Add Lighting/Sound/Set - Costume Parade Friday (We perform) - Finish Blocking & Choreography - Dress Rehearsal - Final Performance
