Service Description

Thursdays 5:30PM – 7:00PM Sept 24th Start, Dec 10th Term End. The ‘T.Y.T. Junior Company’ is your chance to blend acting, singing and dancing in a professional theatre environment. Working with musical theatre repertoire, this company aims to nurture and guide the next generation of students, to grow into thoughtful and impactful musical theatre artists. Class length: 1 Hour 30 Minutes, 12 weeks (including performance) Pricing: $425 Semester 1 Schedule Breakdown: Weeks 1 - 2: Introductions Introduction to the class, name games, learning activities to make sure all students are comfortable and creating a safe environment for exploration and work over the term. Weeks 3 – 4: Theatre Core concepts of Theatre, the purpose of theatre, storytelling, different styles of theatre, theatre history. Activities and group work (with in class performances) demonstrating the ability to convey a story via different means. Building a solid foundation and understanding of the work that needs to be in place before musical and movement are introduced. Weeks 5 – 8: Movement, Dance & Music Begin to incorporate movement to enhance the storytelling. Dance Boot Camp, run through certain dance drills, cover basic and commonly used dance moves. Musical Theatre Repertoire Using music to enhance storytelling and learning how the music communicates as much as the lyrics. Mini Musicals, creating a story where the plot and events are furthered through the use of music. Weeks 9 - 12: Combination The amalgamation of all three disciplines. A fully prepared and rehearsed performance of a Musical Theatre numbers (30 minutes – depending on ability). Learning how to rehearse a short production and how to work together as a cast to achieve an excellent product. In house performance open to parents, family & friends.
