Service Description

Thursdays 7:15PM – 8:45PM Sept 24th Start, Dec 10th Term End. For the young actor who wants to grow their artistic talents! Whether it’s Modern or Shakespeare, scripted or improvised, this young company is designed to dig a little deeper into technique and artistry and how to deliver a truthful and compelling performance. Class length: 1 Hour 30 Minutes, 12 weeks (including performance) Suggested fee: $425 Semester 1 Schedule Breakdown: Weeks 1 - 2: Introductions & Improv Introduction to the class, name games, learning activities to make sure all students are comfortable and creating a safe environment for exploration and work over the term. Improvisational activities, working on being present and connected with a scene partner. Weeks 3 – 4: Theatre & Monologues Core concepts of Theatre, the purpose of theatre, storytelling, different styles of theatre, theatre history. Activities and monologues (with in class performances) demonstrating the ability to carry the narrative of a story. Masterclass style learning, offering the students the chance to not only perform their own pieces, but to learn from the observation and growth of others. Weeks 5 – 8: Shakespeare & Scene Work Exploration of famous texts (Classical and Modern) Communal and group scenes, encouraging active listening and building the casts’ chemistry and strength as a unit. Tackling story structure, creative writing and starting down the road of creating your own art. Weeks 9 - 12: Combination The amalgamation of all scenes and monologues. A fully prepared and rehearsed cabaret (30 minutes – depending on ability). Learning how to rehearse a short production and how to work together as a cast to achieve an excellent product. In house performance open to parents, family & friends.
